Women's Mythologies in Anatolia Art Exhibition - Austria, Vienna
2004 - Vienna, IODO ODO Art Culture Association - Women's Mythologies in Anatolia Art Exhibition
When I examined Anatolian civilizations, I came across female figures with very strong female characters and chosen as idols.
The fact that the cult of the mother-god is common in Anatolian civilizations shows that women are at the forefront of the social sphere and are active in all aspects of life.
With the transition of humanity to a settled life, the first woman started to communicate with plants for nutrition, domestication of animals and cultivation of the land and its transition to agriculture.
With her femininity, fertility and productivity, she became the symbol of fertility and was chosen as an idol (Goddess).
The most common mother-goddess in Anatolia is called Cybele and is the symbol of Universal Motherhood.
Kybele is the symbol of fertility and is depicted with bull and ram figures that symbolize fertility in Anatolia.
These powerful female figures and symbols, which have influenced me, are the cornerstone of my paintings.
I think that women's strong structure is what these strong female figures still experience in Anatolia today.
The magnificence and value seen by the Idols of the past are in the past, and today, we see that women in Anatolia have been pushed far back, always standing behind them, being silenced and even being ignored.
A woman is a very strong being, no matter how far ahead or how far she is behind, she continues on her way by staying strong in life with both her spiritual and aesthetic dimensions.
In Anatolia, in my opinion, the strong cult of Kyble or female idols with different names continue their lives.
Maybe these women are unaware of Kybele and these Idols, but when you look at practice
We see that this strong spirit continues to find life in Anatolian Women...
No matter what they are exposed to in Anatolia, maybe they live quietly in a village, maybe in a city.
